Why Creations For Cures Was Started
“As a cancer survivor myself, I learned how significant creating art was. It was and still is, a way I can express myself and experience joy. I used a watercolor set my mother gave me to paint birds as a way to be with my father, who had passed away the previous year from cancer. Often I would just put color on paper without any intention at all, just to feel good. Other times I would study images, practice, and give my favorite version to someone I know. My vision for Creations For Cures is to use art as a weapon in the fight against cancer.”

I grew up on the East Coast and have lived in Oregon with my husband since 2011. Professionally, I have a background in business operations and a love for serving others. When I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2012, my world changed. I learned what was important and the different challenges someone with cancer endures. I learned how to express myself and re build confidence. I learned how important it is to love and be loved. Today, that passion revolves around a community of youth who are underserved, fighting cancer. I am proud to be the founder of an organization that reflects the power of creativity in the healing world.
